Clerk to the Governing Body


 

The governors of Holy Trinity CE Primary School are looking for a clerk to join this outstanding school and be part of our team. This role would suit a well-organised person who enjoys flexible working. This is a part-time role, covering 6 full governing board meetings and approximately 12 committee meetings per school year.

Salary: SO1 spine point 25 or equivalent (approx. £18.29 an hour plus holiday allowance)
Hours: Part time, approximately 260 hours per year, averaging around 6 hours per week, but work will be intermittent across the term depending on the meetings.
Start date: As soon as possible

Role Requirements

The clerk’s role is to work with the chair of governors, headteacher and other governors to ensure the smooth running of the governing board. Specifically, this will mean:

  • Preparing agendas and meeting papers
  • Taking and distributing minutes
  • Giving administrative support
  • Keeping records and up to date information on policies and date of reviews
  • Providing procedural and legislative advice

Meetings are held in term time. Full governing body meetings are currently held on Monday evenings with a 6.15pm start while committee meetings usually take place during school hours. The annual schedule of dates and meeting times can be discussed and arranged to suit all parties. The clerk is also expected to attend all relevant training events and briefings.

The clerk is paid through payroll for hours worked on a monthly or termly basis and receives an included amount for annual leave. Hours payable include the whole meeting process (emails, calls and agenda preparation; writing up and distributing minutes) and training events.
