an Apprentice Joiner you will learn how to;

  • 1st and 2nd Fix Joinery  
  • Measuring, marking out, fitting, cutting, splicing, finishing, positioning and securing of timber  
  • Install doors, mouldings, ironmongery, service encasements, wall and floor units and filaments, cladding and staircase components
  • Use of appropriate hand and power tools  
  • Locate, Handle, Store, Load and transport materials and components safely
  • Maintaining high levels of health and safety at all times, ensuring regulations are adhered to 
  • Maintain a clear and tidy workspace and ensure that waste materials are disposed of in accordance with current legislation  
  • Have a desire to work in the construction industry
  • Have attention to detail and take pride in the work they undertake
  • Have the ability to work in a team with good communication skills
  • Have the ability to work at heights
  • Be punctual, reliable and a committed to achievement

Essential Qualifications required to meet college criteria: -

· 3 x GCSE’s grades E-A / 3-9 including Maths and English

Please note – successful candidate without Maths and English GCSE 4/C will be required to undertake and achieve Level 1 Functional Skills.

Wage/Salary additional information:

- The successful candidate will be working towards a Level 2 Carpentry & Joinery Qualification.
- Duration is 24 months plus end point assessment (approx. 27 months).
- College/Learning Provider will be dependent on the location of successful applicant.

Working Hours

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: From £5.28 per hour

Flexible Language Requirement:

  • English not required

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday

Supplemental pay types:

  • Loyalty bonus
  • Performance bonus

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
